BALAKOT, Pakistan, Oct. 29 (Xinhuanet) -- China's second rescue and relief team Saturday afternoon arrived and settled down in earthquake-hit Balakot district of Pakistan, with the help of local military troop.

The 41-member team contacted the disaster-relief headquarters right after arrival and decided on the specific location of the camp, which was very difficult to find in the mountainous area.

A high-ranking military officer of Pakistan told Xinhua that the camp location was originally found by the first Chinese team and it was later transferred to the local military troops with all the tents.

"We the local military force and common people all appreciated the generous help of the Chinese rescue team," said the officer.

This time, the team set up altogether 12 tents with the help of the Pakistani soldiers, among which seven are for living and five for work. Of the five work tents, three are for field hospitals each covering 40 square meters.

According to team director Zhao Heping, the first Chinese rescue team taught the Pakistani soldiers how to dismantle the new type Chinese tents when they left 10 days ago. And this time, the Pakistani soldiers helped the second team to set up the tents.

Zhao said the field hospitals had to be built some distance away from the camp due to the limit of the ground space. "This may bring some difficulties to our work," he said.

Members of the second team who had also participated in the first team were surprised that some changes have taken place around the camp site compared with 10 days ago. Living tents for quake survivors have been established around the rescue team, and water purifying system has been established. Electricity supply will also be recovered soon.

The Pakistani military said roads have been opened up and stretched 23 km to the epicenter. About 90 percent of the survivors around have received disaster-relief materials.

Zhao said the team will cooperate with the local military troop and medical staff, and recruit some volunteers to solve the language problems.

It is forecast that the day and night temperature difference in Balakot in two weeks will exceed 20 degrees centigrade, and the quake-hit people will unfortunately face with snow weather.
