H.E. Liu Jian Attends CRI-Roots Friendship Year Celebration

 On November 25, 2011, Chinese ambassador Liu Jian as chief guest attended the China-Pakistan friendship year celebration jointly performed by the China Radio International (CRI) and the Roots School System and the launching ceremony of CRI Roots Confucius Classroom in collaboration with Pakistan-China Institute at the Pak-China Friendship Center. Pakistan Federal Minister of Information and Broadcasting Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan, Pakistan China Institute Chairman Mushahid Hussain and other senior officials also joined the event. Pakistan Prime Minister Gilani sent a letter of congratulations for the celebration. CRI Islamabad correspondent Wang Qianting were among the dignitaries and many parents and students of Roots school were present. Chinese ambassador to Pakistan Liu Jian highly appreciated the efforts of CRI and Roots on celebrating 60 years of friendship and diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan and congratulated Faisal Mushtaq on taking the initiative to cement bilateral friendship thus promoting social, cultural and people to people ties by removing the language barrier. Dr. Awan said that at Roots School System now more than 2,000 students are learning Mandarin on full time basis as part of their structured academic study plan and language curriculum. The CRI and Roots School System (RSS), with a view to promote cultural relationship between China and Pakistan and to forge cooperation between the two organizations are promoting Chinese and Urdu Languages for the benefit of both Pakistan and China. For the promotion of Chinese language and culture, the establishment of CRI Roots Confucius Classroom across Pakistan is the common visionary goal of the CRI and Roots School System. Young Rootsians presented varied Chinese cultural dances on the event. Special performances flare to the glitterati of this mega event and were a treat to eyes for all those present witnessing the occasion live.
