Ambassador Yao Jing met with Caretaker Interior Minister

On July 20th, Ambassador Yao Jing met with Azam Khan, the Caretaker Interior Minister of Pakistan, accompanied by Additional Secretary Farah Hamid Khan.

Ambassador Yao stated that China attached great importance to China-Pakistan relations and highly commended Pakistan Interior Ministry’s efforts in protecting national security, facilitating law-enforcement and security cooperation between both countries, and providing safety and security for CPEC projects. China sincerely wished for a smooth and successful election in Pakistan. Mr. Yao also expressed the wishes that the Interior Ministry will further adopt effective measures in ensuring the safety and security of Chinese institutions and personnel in Pakistan. China would continue carrying out exchanges and cooperation with the Interior Ministry and support the Ministry in its capability building.

Minister Azam Khan said that the Interior Ministry of of Pakistan always attached great importance to Pakistan-China friendship and was willing to actively carry out bilateral cooperation between the law-enforcement and security sectors of both countries. Pakistani government, especially the Ministry was duty-bound to protect Chinese institutions and personnel in Pakistan. The Ministry and other related authorities were working coordinately for the safety and security during the election. He also expressed that the Ministry would further enhance the safety and security of Chinese institutions and personnel, and he hoped China would actively cooperate with them in this regard.
