Ambassador Yao Jing called on President Arif Alvi

On July 23, Ambassador Yao Jing called on President Arif Alvi and had an in-depth exchange of views on bilateral relations and international and regional situation of mutual interest.

Ambassador Yao conveyed President Xi Jinping's cordial greetings and best wishes to President Alvi. He spoke highly of China-Pakistan bilateral relations, and said that the two governments and relevant departments are making every effort to implement the consensus reached by heads of the two states, cooperating effectively in the international fight against COVID-19, and promoting collaboration in China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and other areas. China and Pakistan are true friends standing together through thick and thin and good brothers sharing joys and sorrows. Yao noted that with the COVID-19 pandemic still raging, economic globalization being challenged, unilateralism, protectionism and bullying practices prevalent, and a global economic recession, the world is undergoing great changes unseen in a century, and the international and regional situations are getting increasingly uncertain and unstable. Against this complex background, China and Pakistan adhere to the Charter of the United Nations and the relevant norms of international relations, strive to forge international relations with mutual respect, fairness and justice, and win-win cooperation. China is committed to working with Pakistan for building a closer China-Pakistan community of shared future in the new era, and working together for peace and development in the region and the world.

President Alvi asked Yao to convey his sincere regards to President Xi Jinping. He pleasantly recalled his visit to China in March this year, and congratulated the Chinese government and people under the leadership of President Xi on taking the lead in containing the domestic coronavirus outbreak as well as working actively in international anti-epidemic cooperation, being the first to achieve economic recovery and growth, and making important contributions to overcoming the current global challenges. The Pakistani government has attached great importance to China-Pakistan relations and to the construction of the CPEC, and deems that mutually beneficial cooperation between China and Pakistan has provided confidence and support for Pakistan to prevail over the epidemic and recover economy. Pakistan pursues firmly the One-China policy, opposes foreign interference in China's internal affairs, backs China's position on issues such as Hong Kong and Taiwan, and supports China in safeguarding national interests. He stressed that the world is going through profound changes and Pakistan will stand firmly with China to contribute to maintaining world peace and promoting common development.
