| 100 Young Pakistanis Leave for China |

ISLAMABAD (The NEWS) The strategic ties between Pakistan and China ensure sustainable peace and development in the region. The two countries are determined to enhance relations further in the interest of their people. Chinese Ambassador Luo Zhaohui said this while addressing a group of one hundred youth, Sunday, hailing from various parts of Pakistan who left for a ten-day cisit to China as part of the youth exchange programme under which five hundred youth from each side visit both countries. Terming the Pak-China ties all weather and multi-dimensional, Chinese Ambassador Luo Zhaohui said that the two countries attained independence six decades ago but both of them had rich heritage and diversity in culture. "This commonality strengthens the bond of their relations." Engineer Ashfaq Mahmood, Federal Secretary, Ministry of Youth who is leading the delegation represented the youth and hoped that the visit would go a long way in strengthen the relations of the two countries in many spheres. The Pakistani youth are scheduled to visit Beijing, Shanghai and a number of other cities. Ambassador Luo Zhaohui reminded that Pakistan was the first country that accorded recognition to China after its establishment as a sovereign country. Pakistan had also acted as bridge between China and the United States in 1970s. The Chinese envoy also referred to Pakistan's unflinching support for Beijing's position on the question of Taiwan, Tibet and other issues. Engineer Ashfaq Mahmood while speaking on the occasion said that China was a role model for Pakistan in making progress and development. People in Pakistan always cherish the success and achievements of Chinese nation. He recalled the days of early 1960's when Chinese Premier Zhou Enlai visited Pakistan. One hundred Chinese young scholars visited Pakistan early this year under the exchange programme. The amateur young presented a cultural show with regional and national songs, music and dances on the occasion. |
