ISLAMABAD (APP)-The Ambassador of People's Republic of China, Luo Zhaohui, has handed over five sniffer dogs worth Rs 4.5 million to the Director General of Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) in order to fight narcotics. Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir and high officials of the ANF were present on the occasion. On the occasion, Luo Zhaohui said the provision of anti-narcotics assistance was just one such example of the time tested close friendship between the peoples of China and Pakistan. He said that China would continue to assist the ANF in its fight against narcotics and Pakistan's untiring efforts to curb the influx of opiates. The Ambassador said the Chinese Government has been supporting Pakistan and the ANF to combat the menace of narcotics for more than two decades. He emphasized that handing over of sniffing dogs was yet one more instance of China's support to Pakistan. Earlier, the DG, ANF, Major General Syed Khalid Amir Jaffery, thanked the Chinese Government for their invaluable support and said that Pakistan had fallen both a victim and become a transit country in narcotics trafficking because of its proximity to Afghanistan. He said that no country could fight alone the global drug menace and credited ANF's success to its dedicated staff and the support of the international community, particularly China. |
