| Pakistan continuously contributing in relief work for May 12 devastating earthquake |

BEIJING, May 21 (APP) The Government and people of Pakistan are continuously contributing to mitigate the sufferings of May 12 devastating earthquake as two more plane loads with relief goods comprising 480 tents arrived in Lanzhou Wednesday evening. In addition to today's consignment of relief goods, Pakistan has already sent two plane loads of relief goods comprising 310 tents, 500 blankets, 4 tons of medicines, 2000 bottles of mineral water and 1000 plastic mates on Friday. Pakistan is among the few countries whose offer of medical assistance has been accepted by the Chinese Government for the disaster hit areas, said a news release. The Chinese Government has already agreed to accept a mobile hospital with doctors and paramedical staff from Pakistan for the earthquake victims, the news release stated. Earlier, at a ceremony held at the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday, wife of Chinese Foreign Minister Le Aimei received a cheque of RMB 25,000/- (Rs 232,000) from the wife of Pakistan Ambassador to China Mrs. Taranum S. Bashir. The cheque was presented by the children of Pakistan Embassy College Beijing as a mark of solidarity with the victims of the tragic earthquake. "The entire Pakistani nation shared the grief and suffering of the affected people of South Western China", Mrs. Taranum Bashir noted. She pointed out that President and Prime Minister of Pakistan have also visited the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad to express solidarity with the victims of the quake. "The sympathy and support extended by the children of Pakistan Embassy College was a manifestation of all weather Pakistan-China friendship, Mrs. Le Aimei said while thanking Mrs. Taranum and the Children of Pakistan Embassy College for the donation. In addition to Tuesday's cheque, earlier, the diplomats and officials of the Embassy of Pakistan donated an amount of RMB 10,000 (Rs 92,000) for the relief efforts. |
